Recruitment for Alpha Sigma Kappa
for the Fall 2007 Rush Calendar!
Quick Facts
What is recruitment? I'm not doing anything crazy. Plus I need to have time to do homework since I am a nerd. Recruitment, also known as Rush, is the period of the semester when we try to gain the loveliest geeks on campus to join ΑΣΚ. We put on a number of different activities that we think aren't too lame where we can attract the most female nerds as possible. To be considered 'rushing', you have to attend 3 events September 10th to September 27th. It's cake... we have four or five events a week! If you attend 3 events, then you will automatically get a bid as long as you have a nice and geeky major. We will be delivering bids once recruitment is over so act surprised when you get one. If you choose to accept the bid, then you go through the exciting candidate ceremony to achieve candidate status. A candidate is the same thing as a pledge... candidate just sounds better. You get a pin and you can wear our neato Greek letters. After the ceremony, you officially enter the sorority as a potential sister. By the way, all events for rush guests are free. That means if you're rushing to be in ΑΣΚ, you don't pay. So don't worry about it! Candidacy Candidacy is the time for you to decide if ΑΣΚ is right for you. We're not asking for ΑΣΚ to become your entire life, but it is a time commitment. We have weekly meetings and you will be required to attend one social and one academic event a month, as a candidate and as a sister. Also on an about weekly basis, we also require Candidate Education, which is a time to learn about the sorority and your potential sisters. Becoming an Active Sister Towards the end of your candidacy period, you'll take a paper-based exam. I know, I know. It sounds scary, but it's just to make sure that you got something out of Candidate Education. We'll work with you and help you to prepare. If you pass the exam with a "C" or better and fill some other minor requirements, you might be invited to becoming an active sister. If you are offered active sisterhood and choose to accept, then you get to go to an even more exciting ceremony for your initiation. There you'll become an official sister of ΑΣΚ. What's in it for me? Straight up: a caring sisterhood of smart, hard-working women dedicated to doing well in school academically and having some fun on the weekends. Plus these:
