History of Alpha Sigma Kappa
Alpha Sigma Kappa grew out of the Little Sisters program of Triangle Fraternity, at the University of Minnesota. The first chapter was founded there on May 1, 1989. Over the years, Alpha Sigma Kappa has slowly spread to have chapters in six universities, including ours here at the University of Maryland - Baltimore County. Our colony was started after two of our members watched a little too much MTV and went on Google to search for sororities. The concepts of Alpha Sigma Κappa appealed to them and they got a bunch of their friends involved. The colony was officially formed on November 22, 2003. Another group joined as part of the Alpha Class during spring rush of 2004. During fall of 2004 we had the privilege of adding our wonderful Beta Class. On March 5th of 2005, we had the honor of becoming the 6th active chapter of Alpha Sigma Kappa. Our Flower is the White Rose, our colors are Royal Blue and Silver and the Lioness is our symbol.
